Turin Brakes

I saw this band live for the first time when they supported David Gray, and they have such fantastic voices. Their harmonies on disk are nothing compared to hearing them live, and on disk it's a pleasure to hear. They seemed to be in good spirits too, cracking jokes and the like, so I really enjoyed their set. My favourite part was when they said "We're going to do a cover of Shaggy song now" and we all booed, so Olly said "but tell us if it's shit", and Gale said "no, don't tell us, cos we'll get upset". We laughed and they pulled off the best rendition of Angel I've ever heard, certainly better than Shaggy could EVER manage!! The crowd cheered their total appreciation! They had won back our hearts and they thanked us accordingly.
I've got quite heavily into their album, now especially since I saw this show, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them headline their own show, in the fabulously intimate Bristol Academy.
This will be on 16th March 2003, so watch this space for my review of this gig.
