Before the concert, we managed to meet Feeder as they went into the venue. Mark and Dean quietly slipped inside, leaving Taka and Grant to sign autographs and have photos etc. Did we scare Dean off at Nottingham?? hehe
Shell's son Aidan went to see them at Newcastle, and wanted to hear them play Moonshine, as that's one of his favourite songs. So he took the opportunity when Grant approached to ask why it wasn't played. Grant said they'd been changing the set each show, and they just dropped it that particular night, but they were going to play it that night, though. Luke, Shell's youngest son, was turning 12 that week, and this concert was a birthday present. It was his first gig, and he got an autograph from Grant and Taka, photos with them, and also was cheeky enough to ask Grant if he had a plectrum, which Grant let him have! You can see from the photo below (Luke's on the right) that he was grinning from ear to ear. His best birthday present ever, apparently.
As for lil ole me, I didn't get to speak to Taka, unfortunately, but I spoke to Grant briefly, and had a photo with him. He was lovely...
This will be a short review, because Feeder only played 6 songs. They played Come Back Around, Comfort In Sound, Just The Way I'm Feeling, Quick Fade, High and Moonshine. As you can see, apart from Come Back Around, they were all ballad type songs, but that's obviously aimed at the Coldplay audience. But I was dying to hear something like Godzilla, if for no other reason than to see the faces of the Coldplay fans!
It was weird to see, actually. We had seats, rather than standing tickets, and we were right at the back of the stadium, in the upper tier. We're used to being in the crush, having the chance to jump around and be yourself. Being tied to a small area where people behind you want you sit down, because they can't see... just isn't fun folks!
This said, we enjoyed the show - even the support acts got use of the lighting show, which was impressive, and the sound quality was marvellous.
Next chance will be V2003 along with a multitude of bands I love, but haven't seen live yet, so that's this summer's big event.
