This evening was looking to be a strange one, as my gigging buddy Ella was unable to come with me, so I had to give her ticket to someone else.  Luckily it went to friends of friends, who had a fab time, and they're two more pals I've made, thanks to music.  Yay!  Stay in touch girls, you were fab!

As I made it into the concert, I found one of the last remaining places on the barrier before the crush started, and believe me, it started before the support were anywhere near ready!  I had bruised on my hips and a very tender tummy from the barrier, and I couldn't stand upright all night. I'm beginning to think that this is a trait of a Feeder crowd, energetic and enthusiastic from the start.  Fantastic!

Someone I know compared my gigging antics to some kind of extreme sport, as I always came away bruised - I like that analogy!

I couldn't move from my spot the whole show, and this turned out to be the best spot in the house anyway, so I wasn't complaining!  See that photo above?  Yep, I took that and it hasn't been enlarged, Grant came up to the edge of the stage, right in front of me!  I shook hands with him and he started up a song, can't remember what it was, I was so blown away, but I recognised it instantly, and I jumped and squealed, much to Grant's amusement.  He has this really coy smile when he looks at his fans, like he feels like he's the one who's not worthy, it gorgeous!

I've done a separate page for the support band, Hell Is For Heroes, because they were just so amazing, they deserve it.  I'm really keen to see them again in their own show, as I can imagine it being even more awesome.  From the second the band picked up their first track, the crowd was jumping, and it didn't stop until long after Feeder left.

The set today was quite similar to Rock City, with just a few changes. The songs listed below will have to be put in a proper order when I get it sorted.  But 'Come Back Around', yet again, made a stonking opening to the set.  Once again, the sound was great, really professional and the only mistakes I noticed were when Grant messed up his lines a couple of times - but that's live, baby, and he slipped back to the correct lyrics very smoothly!  Doubt many people noticed!

Because I wasn't jumping around in the crowd, I was able to take in the band's performance more this time.  Taka is SO into the crowd, he looks like he is wishing he was down there with us, he loves jumping about onstage, as he plays, and smiles to everyone who will catch his eye, and there was plenty of that going on, believe me! Hehe!  ;)

The atmosphere was something even more intense than Rock City, 100% electric and the barrier had to be braced against the stage with thick steel poles, part-way through the set, as it was being pushed forward by the surge of people - is that normal, or is that just totally cool??  There was all the usual crowd surfing and cups of water.  One thing that impressed me was a security guy who kept passing us by, spraying us with water - I was soaked by the end of the night, but I know I wouldn't have managed without it.

Grant was in his element.  He stopped between songs to tell us that he loved the venue, the Colston Hall, because he used to go there to see rock bands himself as a kid.  That made us feel kinda special.  It's normally a theatre and the decor is very ornate and theatre-like - a complete contrast to Rock City, but it still worked a treat!

Highlights of the set for me would include the intensely blinding 'Godzilla', 'Turn', 'High' (thanks to Taka for the most gorgeous lingering smile during this song) and the track which is turning out to be my favourite - 'My Perfect Day'.  I adore the bass-line in this song, and the lyrics just summed it up for me:

"I wake up in the morning, everything fits, I'm still hoping tomorrow feels like this, my perfect day".

What more can I say?

Oh yeah, see you at Coldplay ;)
